Discover the marble reproduction of Cupid and Psyche, inspired by the famous statue by Canova, kept in the Louvre Museum in Paris. This sculpture represents the god Cupid kissing the mortal Psyche, in one of the most famous love stories in mythology.

Psyche, a beautiful girl who cannot find a husband, becomes the attraction of all nearby peoples who offer her sacrifices and call her Venus (Aphrodite). The divinity, knowing the existence of Psyche, jealous of her usurped name, sends her son Cupid(o Eros, Amore) to make her fall in love with the ugliest and most stingy man on Earth and be covered by the shame of this relationship, but the god misses his aim and the arrow of love instead hits his own foot and he falls madly in love with the girl.

In this beautiful sculpture the god Love (Cupid) kisses the mortal Psyche in one of the greatest stories of love and passion.

Historical Curiosities

The original statue of Cupid and Psyche was created by the famous sculptor Antonio Canova between 1787 and 1793. It represents a moment of intense passion and tenderness, immortalizing the eternal love between the two mythological characters. The story, told by the Latin writer Apuleius, is a symbol of love and redemption.

Maintenance

Marble is a material to be treated with care. Periodically, it is recommended to clean the torso with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. Aggressive chemicals and abrasive detergents are strictly prohibited as they could ruin the delicate finish of the sculpture. To preserve their integrity, it is recommended not to expose the marble works to direct contact with sunlight for long periods, in order to avoid natural yellowing.
